The basic race playbooks (Elf, Dwarf and Halfling) include several new missile weapons.
When you’re making new equipment, there is always the problem that you wind up creating something that will either always be superior or inferior to an existing choice. For example, a sling is (near, 2 coins, 1 weight), whereas a ragged bow is (near, 15 coins, 2 weight). From a purely mechanical point of view, the sling will always be a better choice, since it weighs and costs less, but has the same practical effect as the bow. Fictionally, the situation may be different, but this sort of thing is still irksome to me.

I wanted gear (and the quality thereof) to be an important part of the game, so I added a couple tags (e.g. crude and warm) and differentiated materials by those tags.
I’m also tried to differentiate the weapons by more freely adding tags like awkward and forceful and precise.
Jeremy Strandberg I’ve looked through your gear list! I’ve liked alot of your ideas and have stolen some of them :3. I’m thinking the key to make unique items so far is to make unique tags, I just have a lot to learn. I’ve also liked what Uncharted Worlds does with it’s asset system, but I’m not entirely sure how to cannibalize it for my needs. Peter J My sling is (near, awkward, reload), which almost always makes it a worse choice then the bow, but is far cheaper. That being said, your comment: ‘Fictionally, the situation may be different, but this sort of thing is still irksome to me.’ is spot on: the sling should have different weaknesses and strengths rather than being either much better or much worse than a bow.
