First things first, it’s not happening till aug 2019. I feel like people get the feeling there’s some level of urgency for it.
Second, so many communities are being displaced I wouldn’t be surprised if we see someone create new spaces for stuff like this.
Third, I think I saw a thing about ‘Google Chat and Meet’ migration for hangouts and I wouldn’t be surprised if google already has a G+ replacement prepared like how G+ replaced Buzz…

There has also been discussion about moving to BGG. At the moment it looks like there is not a consensus, there probably will be closer to when G+ actually shuts down.
What about moving to facebook?
