Some time ago I introduced one of my old groups to Dungeon World. They took to the idea, enjoyed what the game had to offer. But, of course, one of the players had an idea for his character that stepped beyond the basic classes.

A big fan of Planescape, he wanted to play something akin to a Monk but with a very specific flavour and concept – a servant of something from beyond the world. So I obliged by creating the Visitant.

Graphics done by Aleksander Łukasiak, based on the playbooks by Stefan Grambart. Inspired by Johnstone Metzger’s Class Warfare-style class building. Enjoy!

  1. James Mullen Thank you! If you or anyone you know decides to take it for a test drive let me know how it went 🙂 The group I made it for sadly played only a few times, so it’s not well playtested.

  2. Robert Doe Thank you for the praise 🙂 I believe that a strong concept and clearly defined themes are the most important thing in all character creation – in making playbooks for PBtA even more so.

Yochai Gal – to be honest I haven’t thought about it. It mostly depends on what license the graphical elements used by Stefan Grambart, since we’re re-using them. If that’s unclear or tricky, I’ll ask Aleksander Łukasiak to re-do the graphics and we’ll release a revised version which will probably require attribution only 🙂

  3. I would drop I am my master’s weapon from starting moves. Seems to be putting too much in and crowds the theme. Mind you, I love this cosmic horror playbook and will bring it into future player options!

  4. Shawn Roske Glad you like it! Let me know if anyone picks it and what comes of it 🙂 As for the weapon starting move – I put it there because the player really wanted to mix the cosmic horror with wuxia kung-fu. If I were to remove it (and accompanying moves from the advanced list) I’d probably make the “magic” moves more potent to concentrate on the weird, or reconsider the damage die to recompensate.
