I loved the perilous wilds, but never dipped my toe into FOTF, but am considering it now. I don’t need to know funnel world to be able to play it, do I? (I have Perilous Wilds and Dungeon World). Would someone be willing to give me an elevator pitch? What’s going on with second edition?

  1. Freebooters is a stripped down dungeon world with more focus on the wilderness (perilous wilds in particular). Can be used without Funnel World and works perfectly great on its own.

  2. Hi Harrison — Due to its origin as a stretch goal for The Perilous Wilds, Freebooters 1e relies upon TPW and Dungeon World. Funnel World is a separate thing (for now).

You can download the Freebooters 2e playtest files here:

    dropbox.com – Playtesting

Most everything you need to play is in there, but subject to change over the coming year as I continue to playtest and revise. The treasure rules in particular are far from useful in their current state; I recommend using TPW/DW approach to treasure generation until further notice.

Let me know if you have any questions!
