  3. This issue has a cool toolbox for generating a “frozen lair”. Each of the 20 possible rooms in the lair adds a trait to the main antagonist and many of them also add questions to the session zero process. For example, if the Shrine is one of the rooms in your frozen lair, then one of Valkimar’s traits is “Pious”, and you’ll add the question “To what gods do frost giants pray?”.

    There are also 20 creatures (in addition to Valkimar) in the issue, and a system for creating “captives” – NPCs that have been captured by Valkimar’s minions and brought to the Frozen Lair – which will each have 1 of 50 possible occupations. Many of THOSE also add questions to session zero.

    Examples: If one of these is a captive in your Frozen Lair…

    Bounty Hunter: What fugitive is rumored to have traveled through this area recently? What is he wanted for, and by whom?

    Scholar or Scribe: What university is near, and in what subjects does it specialize? Who is its headmistress, and for what is she famous?

    I wanted everything in the issue to feed organically into the session zero process. I hope I succeeded LOL
