I have just picked up and fell in love with Dungeon World. I’ve read most of the rule book and watched a few sessions of play on YouTube. I love the freeform story-building aspect of the rules. I want to GM a game of this, but before I do, I’d like to participate as a player in a few one-shots. Is anyone running introductory VTT or other format sessions for DW newbies? If so care for a new face? Or failing that, does anyone have a spot open in an ongoing campaign that I could try out for?

John Bowlin welcome to the pack! I highly recommend reading this little gem of a guide. It’s an eye opener on how to play. It’s basically mandatory reading lol.

Gauntlet Hangouts runs DW games online quite often.
The Gauntlet Hangouts
…and finally the finisher. I highly recommend this podcast from The Gauntlet crew of rpg enthusiast.

yes get involved in the Gauntlet community. 🙂 I don’t have time to run another game at the moment but I would love to run one via hangouts soon.
Both Lachiel and me are members of The Gauntlet. It’s a great community.
But really that’s all up to you. Do look into the guide if nothing else. 😆😉
It’s really worth it.
John Bowlin I’m using discord to run a bunch of games that are essentially one shots using world of dungeons. Which is sorta dungeon world inspired. Here’s the invite link to the channel https://discord.gg/9KEZE3C
Thank you all for the input. I am working on building a cross-dimensional Planescape inspired campaign on Roll20.net called Dangerous Doorways. It will use DW as the core mechanics tweaked with some new classes and with more of a philosophical faction bent – i.e. there will be factions that band together on the basis of their philosophy and how they perceive reality to work. I have not yet decided if I want to take actual Planescape factions in whole or in part or create all new ones (there will certainly BE new ones, but some of them are too good not to use or at least imitate).
Technology and Magic are one and the same in this multiverse… What primitive worlds view as “magic” are merely forces of reality that can be manipulated by those attuned to it either via ultra-high technology or innate ability, or by the coercion of extra-planar entities such as devils and demons (which either use innate ability or technology themselves). Deities are ultra-high-tech ultra-attuned entities that have achieved a post-mortal, post-matter state of existence (i.e. whole or partial energy entities) and maintain their existence through the power of Belief, which is itself a core force of reality.
None of this is particularly original thought but hopefully the narrative of the campaign and the political intrigue and adventure will be original and exciting for the players.
