Thank Ciel Ferma – really helpful flowchart!

Awesome. Thanks for sharing.
This is really cool
Very useful. I suggest increasing the contrast between the player/GM fiction brush stroke. You can basically tell from context anyway, but they look very similar if you don’t know what they are.
I am fairly certain DW does not have the “say yes or roll the dice” concept. If a move matches the fiction, you roll.
Aaron Griffin and you help me word/reframe this idea. …
Adam (https://twitter.com/skinnyghost/status/441720610062757890) calls is “Is this a move?” and if not we go back to the soft/hard GM move, but I feel this removes the idea of Setup followed by Resolution, which is very strong in Sage’s Dungeon World Guide.

If something happens and it doesn’t trigger move, it just happens.
Aaron Griffin it needs to be short… “No Move, No Contest” , “No Move, Move On”? Ps I also like the symmetry of this in contrast to the Golden Opportunity.
I don’t think you need a line there at all

I always felt that say yes or roll the dice was just another way of saying. Discuss the fiction and decide if it triggers a move.
I do not agree with say yes or roll the dice.
•Some things player characters just do: For those things you say Yes.
•Some things they may be able to do: For those things you say, Roll the dice.
•Some things they can’t do. For those things you say No.

Wynand Louw, Timothy Stanbrough & Aaron Griffinon how do you like version 1.3?, I could not find any reference to saying no in the book. I did find this in the Dungeon World Guide : “But in Dungeon World, when that new player says “Can I dodge it?” I can smile and say, “Of course. Roll plus Dex.” What’s why it works! Because you can always say “yes.” – This is not just a Blanket, it’s a yes to a roll.
Ciel Ferma ah but that’s just sort of muddying the water.
“Say Yes or Roll the Dice” is from Dogs in the Vineyard. It is not generally applicable to all games, thought it can be a good idea.
In PbtA games, the GM doesn’t say yes OR no. That is not their role. The fiction agreed upon at the table by all players says yes or no, and the triggers of the moves in play determine if you roll dice or not.
The GM doesn’t decide that the players needs to roll dice, they just usually point out that a move applies and the player follows the rules presented by the move.
Otherwise, I like 1.3
Aaron Griffin I felt i needed a line to keep the flow going, thanks for your feedback
