For reasons I’ll detail in the future, I have started to use symbols and words in my descriptions of move results.

  1. Huh, I always thought “on a hit” meant 7+… I could have been wrong this whole time. Anyway, the ranger’s hunt and track uses 7+, as does the paladin’s I am the Law

  2. I see. I would just rewrite those for consistency. I don’t think any clarity is lost.

    I am the Law:

(+) They choose one from the list and you take +1 forward against them.

(=) They choose one from the list:

    • Do what you say.

    • Back away cautiously, then flee.

    • Attack you.

(-) They do as they please and you take -1 forward against them.

    Hunt & Track

(=) Follow the creature’s trail until there’s a significant change in its

    direction or mode of travel.

(+) As above, but you also choose 1:

    • Gain a useful bit of information about your quarry

    • Determine what caused the trail to end

  3. Maezar I am using 7+ in the current version of my paladin’s Lay on Hands move, it was tricky to word it, and the 7+ allowed me to smooth it out pretty well.

    LAY ON HANDS

When you lay hands on another to lend them your fortitude, place both hands upon them and roll +CON:

7+: Heal 3 points for every Conviction spent

7-9 : Choose 1 from the list below

    6– : Mark XP

    • Only heal 1 point for every Conviction spent

    • The damage or disease is transferred to you

Points healed must be in a single ability or in Hit Points.

  4. Will D, I think you could express that in “Standard Form” as follows:

10+: Heal 3 points for every Conviction spent.

7-9: Heal 3 points for every Conviction spent and choose 1 from the list below:

    • Reduce the healing to 1 point per Conviction spent

    • The damage or disease is transferred to you

Points healed must be applied towards a single ability or HP.

Question: You mention “disease” which is neither ability point burn nor HP damage.

  5. Ганс Андроид Certainly. I’m not by any means suggesting that this is a community-wide good idea, but it is essential for what I’m working on in the context of Freebooters on the Frontier.
