Know Someone
When you know someone who could help, describe how you know them and how they might help, and roll + CHA. The GM may ask you to write a bond with them.
* On a 10+, they could do what you need, and aren’t far.
* On a 7-9, they could do what you need, but choose 1.
* On a 6-, they can’t do quite what you need, and choose 2.
– They have a grudge against you or don’t trust you. Say why.
– They’re some distance away, the GM will say where.
– They’re caught up in trouble already, the GM will say what.
This is a pretty good summation of the Circles mechanics into one move. Good job!
I like this, but I feel like the grudge one is a non-choice. Why would I choose that over the other two?
They might not feel the same way about your companions, and/or you might really need them to be close and quickly accessible.
Aaron Griffin Because that makes for an interesting story.
David Perry oh I didn’t think of the companions part. That’s a good one. Maybe saying “grudge against you personally” would be clearer?
I think it’s fairly clear that the move is for a personal connection. The player making the move also gets to detail the issue between them.
Hah, I just came across this, from the Koebel himself:
When you go looking for someone you know, Roll + CHA. On a 10+ choose two, on a 7-9 choose one. – you don’t owe them a favour – they’re not already in some sort of trouble – they don’t have a dangerous secret On a miss, you might wish you’d never found them in the first place.
