Hmm, I wonder, Has anyone done an Animie Hack for DW?  With the highly narrative style it seems ripe for it.

  1. These could do some type of anime:

    Avatar World

    Dragon World

    Legend of the Elements

    Troublemakers

Some of the supers hacks might work as well.

  2. Not sure what type.  I was just thinking that with the style of play you could get some great games and animie encourages over the top descriptions.

I could see fantasy such as Slayers or some of the older stuff.  Then there is stuff like Ghost in the Shell.

Other ones: Ramma 1/2, Bubblegum Crisis.  Wicthblade, ect.

    I don’t know, just musing.

  3. That’s pretty good; it sounds like you want to zero in on action-oriented shows, which definitely helps to narrow it down significantly.

Dungeon World’s base structure can work really well for that, even. The main moves you want to keep an eye on are Spout Lore (exposition in anime will probably look a bit different) and maybe Parley (I’m trying to think of good examples of action-anime negotiation).

  4. Well, I was just musing so far, haven’t gotten to the creating a Hack bit.  But what would the general types be?  I see possibilities as Magic Person, Empowered Hero, Armored Suit (Animie does it much better than Ironman), Demon-Infused, Lucky Mortal, Mage, Android/Robot, Psychic Mutant, Specialist Fighter, or many others.  I am not sure what should be made as classes.

  5. One idea you might borrow, although it’s a little more work, is to have a “mix-and-match” playbook style with two halves. One half is the adjective (Goofy, Magical, Robotic, Psychic, etc.), one half is the noun (Samurai, Maid, Alien, Mecha Pilot, etc.). Each half gives moves and maybe part of a character’s opening stats.

That lets you have a wide variety of character types, and a lot of colorful, memorable ones.
