Does anyone have any thoughts on whether and how the BANK IT move can/should be used with vanilla DW? Can you just change “silver pieces” to “coins” and use it? Looking at the price lists from both games, it seems there is no consistent exchange rate.
I want to do this, but I want to make sure I am not missing something obvious.
Hi Hans,
The gear list shouldn’t really impact things too much. What it comes down to is the amount of treasure the PCs are finding, which may vary wildly depending on your approach as GM. I would use the move as-is, see how the progression plays out in your game, and then adjust if you feel a need.
I think the real thing to pay attention to is the Level Up move. You need far fewer XP to level up in DW (level + 7) than in FotF (level x 5, plus 10). So if you incorporate Bank It into basic DW, you might want to adjust the XP threshold of the DW Level Up move. Maybe level + 10?
It had occurred to me that an extra source for XP means faster levelling, and levlling in DW is already pretty fast. I had been thinking something like 3+(3*Level), Jason, which makes fast, but progressively more XP with higher levels. But your comment makes me think that might not be enough change.
I stopped giving XP for “Bank It.” My players and I love the agonizing climb.
