This is an idea I had for a GM organization tool, an index card to hold information on dangers. The front side gives a short summary of the danger, along with a countdown clock from AW to give a graphical representation of how strong the danger has grown. The back has the GMs notes, including grim portents, stakes, and moves for the danger.

Brilliant idea!
This is actually a fantastic way to represent these things. I like it a lot.
Now all we need is a set of 20 or 30 generic dangers like this 🙂
Or a way to easily print on index cards 😊
Or both 🙂 Love this idea.

The ‘Circles’ move is a favoutite of mine – love it! Gives the Bard some great moments in town – I like to have the PC take an empty bond slot with the NPC they find… on a 7-9 its not so positive.
With my portents, I layer them on top of one another with post-its on the index card, and each time I get to make a hard move I dramatically tear one off with a flourish and instigate the next grim portent, all the while chuckling manically. Works a treat!
Here’s the Word template I used to make this, if you’d like to make some of your own: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwbHes6iNuGrWUp5M0FycVkzOEE/view?usp=sharing
You want a place for cast, don’t you – NPCs related to the Front? With combat stats where relevant.
(The way I understand the terms, if it has grim portents and an impending doom, it’s a Front, not a Danger.)
colin roald True. Cast members can be listed on the front of the card, though combat stats should be hidden from view.
Peter J wait, these are public at your table? I would think Grim Portents should also be hidden from view, no? I am confused about how you use these.
The front of the card, showing the name, description, and countdown clock is public. That way, you can keep the party informed as well.
Ah! Interesting. I’m not sure I’d want to do it that way — it seems like it might be a bit like “speaking the name of the move”, even if you’re only showing a countdown clock. But maybe that’s just me.
colin roald, grim portents and impulses belong to Dangers. The breakdown of fronts in the rulebook makes this a little unclear, but you can see it in the example front starting on page 202.
Peter Cobcroft gingko.com, perhaps?
That domain is for sale – what did it previously show?
oops sorry… https://gingkoapp.com
Nice! Also for work things I like to use a free web-based postit note service that might be helpful for others – https://trello.com
