Hi guys – can you explain the damage stats on munsters for me?
eg what do these equate to?
Cave Rat: Gnaw (d6 damage 1 piercing)
Rot Grub: Burrow (d6-2 damage)
Elvish Warrior: Sword (b[2d6] damage)
Are there other tags/modifiers other than:
ignores armour
piercing
damage
impervious
Here’s a list of tags that I made. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1T79dsx0K6uHHNOseFuCALm6AURbp7lWGAg8ma_jV2xc/edit?usp=docslist_api
There’s a list of Monster Tags on page 224 of the rulebook, and a huge glossary of tags on pages 396-399.
Piercing means you ignore that much armor. So “Gnaw” is 1d6 damage, but a defender with 2 armor will only negate 1 damage, and a character with 1 or 0 armor will take the full damage rolled, for example.
“Burrow” is just 1d6 damage minus 2. So if you roll a 6, you actually only take 4 damage, and if you roll a 1 or 2, you don’t take any damage.
The b[2d6] and w[2d6] syntax means “best of” and “worst of.” So for “Sword,” you roll 2d6, and take the higher of the two numbers. Likewise, a w[2d6] attack would take the lower of the two numbers.
Joseph F. Russo Cool thanks, that is a very useful summary so I don’t have to look it up on the book by Tag type anymore!
great – thanks Joseph F. Russo – you might also want to add impervious to your list
thanks Justus Goldstein-Shirley – nice and clear 🙂
Do you think Im missing anything in this representation of a DW monster? https://photos.google.com/u/0/photo/AF1QipN-l1jCBlY0VFZMMwWLCi7njZbJ5Ri49Djubuar
it is for use in fantasy grounds virtual table top. trying to get all the relevant info in there
Damian Hupfeld good suggestion! I added “immunity [type]” after finding that people used that in the Codex to handle imperviousness.
