So how would you do a firat session for a “Season 2” of Dungeon World game?

So how would you do a firat session for a “Season 2” of Dungeon World game? What kind of questions can you ask when you have already kind of built the world from the last questions you ask and have established a few things?

  1. Starting a fresh season is a perfect opportunity to ask players how things have changed as opposed to asking them how they are. Get them to mess with fundamental and interesting parts of the setting that you all have established. I wouldn’t directly futz with the things that the players built/accomplished in season 1, but by the end of a campaign of Dungeon World you should have a plethora of fun (and possibly troublesome/dangerous!) things in the background that you just didn’t have time to flesh out or address.

  2. How long has passed since the first season?

    What has changed since then?

How are you related to the season 1 group? If the same group, what’s different about you? What have you been doing since then?

  3. Give some montage and maybe even surprise them by giving temporary control of characters in the midst of grim portents where the adventure might gravitate towards. Think like a flashback the players actively get to participate in.
