Does anyone else allow levelling up at the end of the session? I know the rules say to level up when you rest but I always feel its fair to give them at the end of the session because they get xp and it usually makes them happy. But I might be taking out something when I do this.
What do others think?
Shouldn’t be a problem at all. Maybe do a little time skip in the beginning of next session and ask everyone how they learned their new stuff.
I don’t see a reason that it would detract from the game, but my playgroup has never had a problem just keeping it to when you make camp. It can be kinda fun, and it’s always a nice little treat when a player has racked up a bunch of XP.
We usually stop playing because we’ve run out of time, so we quickly note experience and level up at the start of the following session, which gives a chance to recap the last session and get in the mood. Works well.
I will say that it does reduce the amount of times the players will take Camp as they are only doing it for healing instead of levelling up.
I let it happen between sessions, even when they’re in the middle of something.
When I try something new IRL, I learn it while I’m doing it — I don’t wait until I’m going to bed to “reflect” on it.
Yep, I do that too. Gives them a whole week to decide on what move they’re taking, and we don’t have to wait around for them to decide and update their sheet.
