So I have this idea in my head for a luchador who has moves based on his fame.

So I have this idea in my head for a luchador who has moves based on his fame. What do you folks think of a move that scales as he levels up? Or should they just be advanced moves?

  1. Just keep them as advanced moves. There’s already classes that have advanced moves that replace older moves with, basically, levelled-up effects.

And I’m very interested in the possibility of playing a Dungeon World luchador!

  2. Shadi Alhusary are you focused on mexican luchadores like El Santo, or you are thinking about generic wrestlers? There’s also the anime Tiger Mask (2 series) as a serial.

For sure you could play with the bad/good guy trope and the dramatic speeches freezing combat.

I would do the moves 2/3 martial artist, 1/3 bard, with something like a show off moves giving hold to spend on exceptional physical things.

  3. Tim Franzke you are right. The problem with my Pit Fighter is that he is dependent on a very specific setting: urban with a lot of people around. The GM has to be a fan of the character to make it work. Having said that, one of the most memorable characters I GMd for was a Pitfighter, but both me (GM) and the player really went for it. The group was captured by a band of Orcs who turned out to be followers of the pitfighting league. And they were fans of the character ..
