So the players are in a bit of a bind at the moment ending on a cliffhanger where the dream demons are cracking the earth to create more doorways so they could go through. I established in the fiction that you could heal these doorways with healing spells and the druid/cleric didn’t have any. I want to help him out by divine guidance but I feel just giving a healing spell would just completely negate any tension and conflict. So what do you lot suggest I do to create a bit more of an adventure to close these doorways?

  1. Make it a healing ritual instead of just a waggle of the fingers and a few magic words. “Sure, you can heal the doors with this spell, but you’ll need 10 minutes to draw the appropriate magic circles and chant the right chants and whatnot, and oh hey dream demons.”

  2. Can the rest of the party struggle with the dream demons (either physically to prevent anything coming through the gates or mentally against the demons themselves) to give the cleric time to commune in order to get that healing spell?

  3. Yeah there is only one doorway at the moment so the others could definitely try to make a bottleneck while the cleric does his big healing ritual. Also as the petition of his deity was gaining secrets at the end I was thinking that the deity would ask him to know why these dream demons are attacking and then have the deity teleport the party in the dream world.

  4. Its not really a door but more of a crack between the real world and the dream world that the dream demons want to use to invade the land. Ooo would love it to have an inception like adventure from it.

  5. james day Continuing the Inception theme: do the dream demons have dreams? Can our players then get into those through another crack? Then they could turn the move back on the demons… That would be so satisfying…
