I’ve been thinking about replacing the End of Session “Did we loot memorable treasure” lately. I’d like to replace it with something like “Did we bring our heritage into play?” but I’m struggling with the wording. Any thoughts?

  1. Interesting, thanks. I think I’m looking for something a bit more directly related to heritage, but that’s a really good suggestion. I’ll have to think about it a bit more.

  2. Keep the measurable treasure one (since it is all so often part of a patron’s candy offered for a job), and just re-write a bond to involve a heritage move. Its easy, just use the burning HQ paradigm:

    I think/believe/personify X. Because of X, I want Y, so I’ll do Z.

Focus it down to a “This is what I believe/want/think” statement, and a “This is what I’m going to do about it” statement. This is a perfectly valid way to write a bond. Not the only way, but good and useful.

So in terms of your heritage it focuses the bond on what makes your character particular to their heritage, personified by the racial (heritage) move chosen by their player. Make the move and in most instances you will work towards or resolve your bond.

An example: Say I’m the marsh-dwarf witch who has some spiderlord ancestry. I pick the Dwarven Warrior move “Drive them back,” and the Spiderlord move “Enmesh in webbing,”

So, based on the sample job at the end of the book:

‘I am the stoic wall protecting the Sultana which the tomb guardians will never breach! I will drive them back and return with the mummified heart enmeshed in my webbing’

  3. I haven’t gotten to hand out loot of that kind, since the group rolled the first job botched, and everything’s been spinning out of control after that. They’ve been trying to fix things to get back to “normal”, but now they’re running away from an angry wind god after breaking into his sanctuary…

Which is all awesome, but, the loot point hasn’t come up once. Heritage has, and it’s added to the game, so I’d like to reward them for that instead. You’re right in pointing out measurability though. That’s part of my problem with the wording.
