So… I’m searching for any idea for my Eberron campaign (with a dungeon world hack)
.
A warforged player found a docent component, a small metal sphere which can be attached to his body. This sphere hold an ancient “A.I.”…
For now it’s just a new NPC (“she” is very friendly, but lost most of her memory of the ancient age) I’m not sure what special power/move should I give her (if any).
Any cool tips anyone? If you got crazy idea, I have no problem going crazy 😀
thanks!
Actually, I was just about to start on docents for my Eberron hack! I’m probably going to use hirelings as a base, and work up different skills to suit the A.I.-style.
When you consult the ancient A.I. about the current situation roll+bonds with it.
On a 10+ it will give you valuable information about the situation at hand.
On a 7-9 choose 1
– the situation is faulty, tangential or hard to decipher
– The A.I. will demand a favour before it answers any more questions
– The information is absolutely true and valuable, but you won’t like it one bit.
Really like the “roll+bonds” 🙂
The so is basically a demon, that offers her horrible bargains against “fleshist interlopers” all the time. “Randall, if you rip that small gnomes pinky finger off, I can teach you to heal yourself quite often”. Sometimes make it mysterious stuff that isn’t necessarily bad.
Maybe the AI is still in communication with an ancient satellite that is still functional. The satellite still sends instructions and expects reports from the AI.
– The satellite could have an odd name with numbers in it that the characters misinterpret as the deity of the AI
– Maybe the satellite only communicates during certain times of the day/night due to its orbit
– Maybe the satellite is a space station, and the AI thing needs to get back to the space station with environmental data, photographs, etc. This means there must be another ship on planet or at least a pod/launching pad capable of getting it back into space
Uhm… it’s a fantasy settings… (the word “A.I.” is not really correct), but, no matter…
No problem putting a fantasy magic space station above the planet 😀
For now I’ll go with the Docent being a special hireling then… we shall see…
I know. That’s what makes it awesome. The players never have to know you are referring to technology. But I understand it’s not for everyone. Good luck!
