Hey all, I’ve been poking around, intrigued by Dungeon World… The main site is pretty through on showing how community-based the system can be, but I’m failing to find anything that would give me a good overview of what it’s all about/what sets it apart from other RPG’s…
Anyone have some resources/links that they could share?
Thanks!
Use your google-fu for “Dungeon World Review” and your questions will be abundantly answered. 🙂
Well that’s the issue, I suppose… Google answers are TOO abundant. Just wondering if anyone had seen anything that particularly captured what the system is about.
It’s dungeon-crawling with D&D trappings done in the Apocalypse World engine, which should tell you everything you need to know.
You can read the entire rulebook online, since it’s CC:Â http://book.dwgazetteer.com/
(I think this is the most up to date link, but someone else might know better.)
Dungeon World is about different things to different people. Ask six people what an “Apple” is about and you’ll get six different and correct answers. Any of the first 10-30 Google-fu answers are fine. 🙂
If you want a quick intro to how DW differs from other dungeon crawling fantasy games, you might check out the free fan-made Guide located here:
http://www.dungeon-world.com/dungeon-world-guide/
It’s a quick read and a nice introduction to Apocalypse World style games, with lots of concrete examples.
I’ve read a few good reviews… but that’s EXACTLY what I’m looking for John… Did not see it on the DW site (looks to a be a little buried).Â
I’m mostly interested in how it’s taken some of the rules/flavor from some of the more recent “story games”…
Thanks all for your help; kept me from falling down the Google rabbit-hole!
