For anyone familiar with the RPG “Sorcerer”, how well/poorly do you think a Sorcerer from that game (with his demons and stuff) could be translated into a class (or compendium class?) for DW?

I like the ideas from that game, but it seems to focus on individual players’ stories, not them playing as a group, so I thought it’d be interesting to try and bring it in as a character class.

  1. I don’t really see it working for the reasons you mentioned.

You could do something that worked the same way mechanicaly but the types of stories would be vastly different.

  2. That’s a good point. Re-reading it now (the Funhaver Games one, right?) it could be pretty suitable. The demon special abilities could be added on as a supplemental Moves sheet, right?

  3. I think that it is great idea! Plus there was an old ‘summoner’ fan-made playbook kicking about in the current game’s playtest period.

This one (the warlock) is unfinished, but probably more appropriate.

I had a player use this playbook with a one-shot of the old ‘Hall under the Hill’ Bloodstone Idol module from the redbook ruleset. It was great!

  4. I’ve done it for Apocalypse World, shouldn’t be that hard to do something similar in DW.

The real problem is if the demon becomes an NPC that only one player ever interacts with. I had this problem running AW with a Hoarder PC, and found it really annoying.
