Hey all! I have a request for some feedback on a concept I have for a “location of interest”. I’ve already begun writing for it, but the linked document (2 pages) is a piece I put together for your review that just covers the concepts included. At the end I have a few questions. Please feel free to respond here, or via comment on the doc, or however else you wish to. Thanks in advance for any feedback, I really appreciate it!
Hey all!
Hey all!
I don’t mix Sci-fi with my Fantasy, but it could be an interesting concept for those who want to.
Gillian Wiseman Oh, don’t get me wrong, I don’t mix them either – I’m a very ‘meat and potatoes’ fantasy guy when fantasy is what I’m doing – except this one time, for this one occasion – and the reason for doing so was… well, it’s a great way to introduce something to the players as being very “otherworldly” right? Especially if you never do it otherwise. The effect can be very powerful ESPECIALLY if you never mix these things normally.
Nothing says it has to have a long term effect in your campaign (it certainly wouldn’t in mine), it’s just a taste of it. They may leave the Fort with some gadgets that continue to be of use to them, but there would be no other trace once you decide it’s time for the Fort to be on its way. In fact, it could be that the Fort’s presence is what allowed the Gadgets to work in the first place, and upon it’s departure, those devices are rendered inept and worthless 😉
All that said, I can completely understand not wanting to touch sci-fi even for a moment in your fantasy campaigns. It really was only after reading a few different things this last year that I saw how cool it could be to bring the two together (even temporarily) – before then I would not have done it at all.
Thanks for reading the concept!
Reminds me of Krull!
