Ran a game for two players this weekend that went really well. It was a Thief / Wizard con team. They moved from town to town cleverly parting people from their money with their traveling act.

The story began having been run out of one town, and on to the next, which just so happened to be hosting a Summer Carnival.

Funny moment of the night: They try to convince a young woman to be a part of their upcoming show that night by tempting her with fortune and fame…

Wizard: “You will have riches!”

WOMAN: Looks longingly into the sky

Wizard: “You will know fame!”

Thief: (whispering) “Fame.. faaame…. faaaaame…… faaaaaaame”

Wizard: “At this point, I make stars appear above her, spelling out her name” (Prestidigitation Cantrip)

ME: “Do you… know her name?”

Wizard: “Uh, crap… it says ‘YOUR NAME HERE'”

Thief: (whispering) “Your… name…. heeeeere…”

Anyway, 6 hour game, 2 combat encounters (brief) TONS of RP and and an amazing time. Neither had played yet, but both had been reading about it (having heard me talk about it more than a few times).

Would anyone else be interested in a “For Use With Dungeon World” logo by chance?

Would anyone else be interested in a “For Use With Dungeon World” logo by chance? I was messing around with one to slap on some things earlier and thought I would ask. Oh, and if this exists somewhere already, let me know. I took a quick look around and didn’t anything, but who knows. Anyway, here’s what I have so far…

Should this be a Compendium Class?

Should this be a Compendium Class?

Should this be a Compendium Class?

I’ve been working up some alignment moves, bonds and a few magic items that are thematically linked. I eventually realized that these could (minus the items perhaps) fall under a Compendium Class (which could actually make sense in this case)…

…the question is, does it make sense to call this grouping a Compendium Class if there are no Advanced Moves to select? I do have an initial move that could be gained when the CC requirement is met, but beyond that it’s just alignment moves and bonds…

When you consider my situation, roll+INT. On any result, choose one. You may also ask Weem a related question and he will answer it honestly.

– Tell Weem to work in some advanced moves so it can fit the mold of a CC

– Tell Weem to simply state a requirement up front that must first be met before selecting the alignment moves and bonds, ignoring the CC mold

– Tell Weem something else below

– Choose not to respond for now

In another #PaladinWeek post, I offered up a “Paladin of The Eye” (shared again in this post, below) as well as illustrating a “Goblin Paladin Shield” (in a different post). Combining these two ideas, here is a possible place of worship for a Goblin Paladin of The Eye I quickly made.

Paladin of the Eye (Racial Move)

The Eye watches over all, and has selected you to be one of its restless guardians. While you are on a quest, you require no sleep. However, should you fail to successfully complete your quest, The Eye shifts its gaze elsewhere, and you lose this ability.

With it being #PaladinWeek  and all, the topic came up of non-human Paladins (which I happen to love).

The “Messy” tag scares (and inspires) me

I’ve run 5 games, for various people each time (introducing a lot of people to the game) so I have yet to put players up against anything tough. I love the idea of monsters tearing the limbs of characters off but it has me wondering… what happens after a few sessions of facing such creatures?

I keep imagining walking down the street of a town full of former adventurers, all of them missing at least one limb, or perhaps the Holy Grail knight with all of his “flesh wounds” (see image I made, attached).

What happens to characters after losing a limb or three in your game? Have there been cases in your games where multiple PC’s lost limbs in one fight? Do you work in recovery of them or does it become a new tag they must contend with, like “clumsy” until, perhaps, they get used to it?

Ambassador (Compendium Class) – Feedback?

Ambassador (Compendium Class) – Feedback?

Hey all – I made my very first CC! It’s a very rough draft and is only 2 pages. It will likely have a few more moves than are there currently, and nothing has been tested yet but I’m hoping I can get some general feedback!

Specifically, I like the idea of requiring a certain threshold of “hold” (+Steading in this case) in order to trigger some moves, so I’m curious about your thoughts on that too.

Thanks!
