Here is a compendium class I’ve been working on. For a bit of context, in my setting there is an organization call the Eye of Infinity. They’re a group of magic users that took upon themselves to deal with spell casters that became too powerful for mortals to deal with. The Eye appear before any such wizard and demand he submit to the terms of the order, or be destroyed. “The Eye of Infinity is watching, among the shadows, beyond reality”.
The Infinity Watcher
When the Eye of Infinity has appeared before you and you’ve accepted their terms, the next time you level up you may choose to gain this move:
Gaze of Infinity
When you focus you power into your Mind’s Eye, roll +INT. on a 10+, choose 2. On a 7-9, choose 1. On a 6-, choose one but the objects of your gaze looks back at you.
– You feel the presence of mortals with magical powers in your general area and can tell when they’re using their powers.
– You feel the presence of a specific individual you’re familiar with, knows the direction they’re located at and can tell when they’re using their magical powers.
– You feel the presence of Places of Power in your area and can tell whether they were used for a Ritual and what was its nature.
If you have the move Gaze of Infinity, these count as class moves for you; you can choose from them when you level up:
Beyond Reality
The following option is added to the Gaze of Infinity: You feel the presence of mortals crossing the boundaries between worlds in some fashion. Maybe they’re communing with the spirits of the Dead Zone, or siphoning power from the Demon Realm.
Among the Shadows
When you’ve felt the presence of a specific individual and came in direct contact with them, you may Mark them. You will forever be able to feel the presence of the Mark and know when their using their magical powers. You may only place a Mark on one person at a time.
Endgame
Requires: Among the Shadows.
When you confronts your Mark and give them an ultimatum, parley using +INT instead of +CHA. If the Mark rejects your terms, roll +CON.
On a 10+, their burned by the power of their innate magic. Roll your damage +Constitution. If the Mark survived the ordeal, they’re forever cut from all magic in the world.
On a 7-9, you cannot contain the magical surge and suffer the same damage as the Mark. If you live, the powers of the Eye will prevent you from losing your magic- this time.
On a miss, the magical onslaught burn completely at your soul. You suffer the damage and if alive, your connection to all magic is severed, permanently.
Interesting concept, though Endgame may end an adventure too quickly and neatly. Of course, you may also have to deal with whatever that Marked mage has conjured up. Maybe some sort of abjuration power?
