My PCs recovered, after driving away an evil Satyr, a magic rock from an ancient fairy mound. I told the wizard that it had runes carved on it, and when he detected magic on the whole mound, he sensed some sort of binding spell. I want the rock to have some sort of magical power independent from the mound’s binding, but not a huge one, as his taking it was sort of “at random”. He may not even realize he put it in his pocket!

What would you do with this? I also have NO idea what the binding on the hill is; just that spilling blood there was loosening it…

  1. The rock always gives you a sense of how strong the binding on the hill is. Great way to make moves elsewhere: “Oh, and the stone feels lighter, as if the binding has loosened some more.”

  2. The rock is a seal. When placed on any doorway, it may not be removed nor passed by evil/fae/demons/hedgehogs.

Of course, now it has been removed, the evil fae/demons/hedgehogs held in the mound are going to loosed upon the world. Also, whoever bottled them up in the first place are also going to be unhappy, and want the stone back/replaced.

  3. Sage, that’s perfect! I’m going to use that for sure. The binding is definitely going to keep getting loosened, as the Satyr who escaped from the party definitely wants to free whatever is inside.
