Five moves is… kind of a lot? More than I would think most animal forms would need, honestly. Maybe grant them extra hold instead? Or even something like “Pick two other druid moves when you take this move, but you can only shapeshift into this form from now on” so you could get extra hold, or extra damage, or damage-prevention, or whatever as appropriate/desired.
Lin Rice should look at this.
It is kind of a lot Ben Wray, that is the point. Those are the moves you have to live with for the rest of your Druidic live though.
Fair enough. But some animals it might be hard to think of that much variety. I mean, say a PC wants to be a bear-shifter. What five moves do you grant them?
Climb a tree
Immobilise in a bear hug
Ignore a forceful blow
Roar to get everyone’s attention
Rend with claws
Basically you have 3 moves already when it’s your favourite form. GM and player each add one more. That can be done
Don’t forget tracking. A bear has a keen sense of smell. “Catch the Scent”
It could also charge and knock over something big – “throw your weight around”
It could also drag/carry something – “feats of ursine strength”
Animal moves are: hard to come up with on the fly but easy to come up with between sessions and with wikipedia open.
Also, they should always be something concrete and action-y. Not “feats of ursine strength” but “push something over” or “maul a target”.
added: “You also gain an additional tell, matching the monarch”
