I’m an old D&D player but after 4e I can’t play anymore. It doesn’t FEEL like it did when I was a kid. While there are many reasons for this, I believe that as an adult, my imagination is fed more deeply by “narrative RPGs” much more than “old school RPGs”.
Mouse Guard changed gaming for me. Then came EDGE OF THE EMPIRE and I had the best RPG session of my life. I’m awaiting my TORCHBEARER book eagerly.
I’m even playing a dungeon world spin off: TREMULOUS via PbP. It’s fun so far. I’m so glad these new games exist. You CAN teach an old dog new games.
