What’s the difference (if any) between the DW PDF you can purchase, and the online postings of the ruleset found on a number of sites? I’m trying to decide whether I buy the PDF now, or wait (using the rules posted online) until I can get a physical copy and PDF (bundle) which appears to not be available for another month or two (Q3, as stated by official DW Twitter)… https://twitter.com/theweem/status/342052283648970752

The gazetter is the full set of rules from the book in creative commons form for all to use, just not as pretty as the actual pdf and book set. 🙂 I recommend getting the full set eventually because it is just so well done, but the gazetter has the rules you need to play the game now if you want to get rolling sooner. The main playbooks/character sheets are all posted on the DW site to work with as well (which I linked) and the codex is an online monster builder with TONS of shared content and the ability to create monsters easily. All really great stuff. You can really play the game with all this stuff for free, but the put together book is totally worth having (in my opinion).

Thanks, yea, I fully intend on getting the bundle (PDF/Physical) copies – just have to wait for their second run/print. The Gaz I have seen/read entirely – but I think what is throwing me off is people mentioning things I don’t recall reading, which then makes me think it’s coming from something the book/PDF has that the site (Gaz) does not, etc. It sounds like that is not the case though, so a second reading may be in order, hehe. If it was indeed the case, I would buy the PDF now, and then the bundle later – would just rather not if I don’t need to, etc. Thanks for the answer!
The gaz is missing a deeper discussion of the basic moves. Just to give one example
Github sources cointain all the text from the book and are up to date.
Gaz is missing sidenotes and a few portions of text. Other than that, identical.
You can pick up a physical copy off ebay still: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dungeon-World-Indie-RPG-/251285094874?
This is not my store
James Savko Oh, look at that! I had just looked there, but only saw someone selling the Kickstarter collection and they were going for a lot… I must not have looked hard enough, thanks 😉
Tim Franzke Vasiliy Shapovalov Thanks for the info!
Mike Weem The store owner posted that a few days ago. I just happened to bookmark it because I was going to buy a couple extra copies for my friends! =-)
Thanks again for that James Savko , I’ve now got a physical copy purchased 😉
Yeah, sorry about the scarcity of physical copies at the moment. Trying to deal with a successful RPG on top of a day job is kind of crazy. We’re just waiting for our distributor’s okay to start the second print run.
Sage LaTorra Not a problem, keep doing what you are doing, I understand completely. I worked 50-80 hour weeks on a video game for 1 year while having a 40-50 hour a week full time web dev job. I’m very excited about your game and even more so to have a physical copy on its way to me 😉
I’d love to buy a physical copy of the book from DW directly, Sage, but the $12 shipping charge was absurd for a $20 book!
IPR had cheap shipping too. You just had to enable it. I felt the same way until I found it
Out of curiosity, James Savko, how did you enable it?
On checkout there was a more shipping options link. It took me a while to find it, but it’s there.
Sorcerer Blob I went back to find the exact location for you. When you are at the checkout screen and it says, Select Carrier. Choose “Other Carrier” and the page will reload with a USPS media mail option.
