Sharing as repost as it’s related to magic item creation in the #FighterWeek discussion.

In the Level Up move, it says that if you have a number of XP equal to your level + 7, you can Level Up. Was the +7 intentional, as in some formula was looking to be achieved, or was there some other motivation involved?
We felt like it was about the pace we wanted. I think we tried +5 and +10 as well, but they were too fast and too slow, respectively. We wanted some element of slowing down with level, but not too much. We tried no level-element to XP and level x 7 XP, again too flat and too curved. So we ended up with level+7 as being a sweet spot.
We basically design games like Goldilocks eats porridge.
I love how the conversation jumped rails. I asked about that, and 30 comments later it’s about spending XP to make magic items. Stras Acimovic this is what I mentioned and you wanted.
Erg, there’s no thread? :-\
I can’t figure out how to get the URL for the original post with this new-fangled Gee Plus format…
