Maybe I’m missing something, but can somebody please give me a step by step to writing front?
I understand each aspect of it: dangers, questions, portents. What I don’t get is what order i should write them in. Also, how do i categorize everything. Right now it’s a big mesh in my head…I’m getting a headache.
Start with a general idea of what you’re making.
1. Think about how big this is. If it’s something relatively small and local, something that might be tied up in a few sessions, it’s probably an adventure front. If it’s bigger than that, it’s a campaign front. Most likely, it’s an adventure front.
2. Take the big idea and pick out 2-3 dangers within it. These are the highest level division of the front.
3. For each danger, list what will happen if nothing is done about it (impending doom).
4. For each of those impending dooms, think up a few steps along the way to that doom happening. These are the grim portents for that danger.
5. Now you have a general idea of where it’s going and how it might get there. Don’t fill in more. Instead, write down what questions you still have about how this might turn out. Answer them in play.
6. Note down all the individiaual people or groups that relate to any of these dangers or the front as a whole, just to remind you who they are.
Okay, here’s my best attempt to follow the above steps and the book to come up with a Front for my Fate Game.
If any of my players are reading this, now is a good time to stop. Spoilers
I’d love some feedback/suggestions.

If you want, we can do a Hangout and brainstorm a bit. Maybe having someone to bounce off of will help. Of course, you probably won’t need to because your getting advice from THE DUDE WHO CO-WROTE THE DAMN GAME!
I like to start with the impending doom and work backwards. Knowing what the end result is helps shape the dangers that get there.
Yeah, feeling super blessed over here brian meredith!
