I’m looking for a reason for a student to be expelled from a school full of masters.

I’m looking for a reason for a student to be expelled from a school full of masters.

I’m looking for a reason for a student to be expelled from a school full of masters. Just stuck on something that would grant a +1 WIS and -STR. Any suggestions or thoughts?

  1. Perhaps read too-many “eye-opening” tomes that were banned?

EDIT: Sorry, didn’t see the bottom one. Maybe something along the lines of “verbal bully”? Like Malfoy from Harry Potter.

  2. Dabbled in dark arts? (I’m assuming masters “of magic.”) You are more “aware” of the world around you, but hobbled by its corruptive power?

    Also, “too often.”

  3. Also, if you change #2’s “kept” to “always,” and used the gerund of #s 5 & 6 (“using” and “reading,” respectively), you could change the opening line to “You were expelled because you were” (emphasis added), leading to a more pleasant read.

    Just sayin’.

  4. If you swapped one thing around:

Read the forbidden books (INT +1, STR -1)

Told people about the flaws in the (education?) system: (WIS +1, CHA -1)

  5. “You got obsessed with a side project of your own, and ignored school, friends, and even eating meals. You learned a lot about tree frogs, but when you got out of the hospital, you discovered you had been expelled.”

  6. I’m with matt greenfelder on this one, that’s the most interesting one.

Incidentally, these should probably modify the stat and not the modifier.

  7. I’m just curious why matt greenfelder’s would result in you being less strong than other masters?

And Davide Losito – I’m not sure why being an innate nerd would result in expulsion. It’s a perfect fit for +WIS, -STR, but nerds often excel, yes?

  8. I don’t know that any of the situations much justify their associated modifiers, but focusing on study and research at the expense of proper exercise => poorer physical ability.

  9. “Caught hidden in an airshaft/some tight spot spying on teachers for a whole weekend.”

“Tried to get answers for an exam through an induced NDE (near death experience).” (too sensitive?)

“Caught using the Drakomar crystal ball of real insight before 7th grade.”

“Skipped phys. ed. to collect rare butterflies one time too many.”

  10. What about a one night stand or an STD those are typical college things. Fatigue leaves you tired but youve learned a “life lesson” whiich I think fit better than cofee cram session/too much studying which would likely effect int.
