I’m currently reading a book called Play Unsafe, by Graham Walmsley. (Wauw, just realized he was in one of my circles, lol)
It’s a brilliant book so far, and one thing he mentions is that we should build on the ideas of others by saying “yes, and…” and stuff like that.
I had a funny thought when reading this, and it was that moves in PbtA games actually do this. All of them are typically either a “yes” result on a strong hit, or a “yes and” on a weak hit.
Just a thought I wanted to share.
It’s a pretty cool book and basically shows i want to run a game.
I just read a paragraph about not starting the story out mid action. That was a weird read, but insightful.
Very insightful. His games are clever too.
I’m going to use some of the theory and hints in tonight’s game. For the love of god, join that game, only one person has joined so far! 🙁
Totally true!
This is a reminder for me to re-read this.
Jeremy Friesen I feel this is a book you should read at least twice.
