wait, WHAT? looks up
It is an Magic Item in the core book – p342, along with the Burning Wheel and the Fiasco Codex: shout outs to the games we love.
It’s for the De-brainer compendium class
Coin of Remembering is almost definitely a “Penny For My Thoughts” reference. I suspect Epoch Lens is Microscope? Inspectacles is probably Inspectres. There might be others.
The magic items are chock full o’ references.
The whole magic item section is a minefield of referential stuff. Anyone spot any more?
Also, the Violation Glaive came from me actually misreading “glove” in AW the first time I saw it.
shudder
Well Neds Head is pretty clear.
Lamented Memento might be Lamentations of the Flame Princess ref? And The Carcosan Spire Reach could be the Carcosa book, if it’s not a direct Lovecraft/Chambers reference. I was a bit hesitant to call Tears Of Annalise as “Annalise”, until I noticed the ‘tears’ were described as red.
They seem to be game references so it’s a safe bet on the obvious.
Epoch Lense is likely reference to Microscope
The Sartar Duck is from Runequest
Oh come on, nobody’s commented on Ned’s Head yet? That ones easy.
I’m just really happy there’s an Apocalypse Dragon.
Ned’s Head was too obvious (Game of Thrones).
Burning Wheel is from Mouseguard?
Captain Bligh’s Cornucopia -> Mutiny on the Bounty
Sage LaTorra Jeopardy question: What’s in ?
Wait… Jeremy Friesen, When you said “Burning Wheel is from Mouseguard, you were joking right?”
CLEARLY The Burning Wheel is from Burning Empires.
No; it’s a reference to The Donut in Freemarket. Silly Dylan!
Dude! Did you set fire to The Donut?
Actually, I may have found it in the Bella Sara CCG?
Dylan Boates The Burning Mouse is from Iron Empires, the Burning Wheel is from Paranoia 😀
I think you’ve got this all wrong. Iron Kingdoms was from Burning Guard and paranoia was from old school D&D.
They missed the opportunity for a double reference: the Apocalypse Cloak
