I’ve converted and am running a Dungreon World version of the original Ravenloft module. It’s my all time favourite module, and Dungeon World really has breathed some new life into it:)

What classic modules have you converted or would like to play?

  1. Any chance you’re willing to offer your conversion for download?  I have the original module, but I love your idea and would prefer to avoid repeating the effort you’ve already put in.

  2. Adam Flynn unfortunately I have done all my conversion notes either into a scanned copy of the module, or into roll20 where I am running the game.  But here are some details and some copy and paste out of it:

Initially I noted the following monsters from the Dungeon World book – Vampires (of course), zombies, Worgs, Ghosts, Banshees, Devourers, Skeletons, Gargoyles, etc. I’m using those within the three Dangers of the Ravenloft Front I developed for the game. The Dangers replace the random encounter charts and even the room contents, depending on how it feels as we play.

    Front: Ravenloft

Cast: Strahd Von Zarovich, Ireena Kolyana, Madame Eva, Father Donavich

Stakes: What will become of the village and lands of Barovia? What will happen to Ireena? Will the PC’s escape Strahd’s clutches? What will happen if Strahd’s plans come to fruition?

Danger #1: Attack by Night Type: Horde

Impending Doom: The village is overrun by beasts of nightmare

Grim Portents: Wolves and Bats assault the village by night; The attackers grow in number and intensity; Father Donavich is found killed by beasts; The village is under seige.

Danger #2: Castle Ravenloft Type: Corrupt Location

Impending Doom: The denizens of Ravenloft run mad throughout the castle.

Grim Portents: The castle will not let the PC’s escape; The denizens become aware of the PCs; The denizens call out to the PCs; The PC’s become lost; The denizens seek out the PCs.

Danger #3: Strahd von Zarovich Type: Arcane Enemy

Impending Doom: Strahd Dominates the land with his new queen by his side.

Grim Portents: Invites the PCs into his web; He attacks with his minions to weaken them; Offers exchange of freedom vs captivity (for Ireena); Takes his bride by force.

That’s about all I did to convert the module. I hope it’s of some use to you!

  3. Playing through G1 – Steading of the Hill Giant Chief at the mo, setting it in the old Judges Guild Wilderlands of High Fantasy. I’ve a yen to play through the whole GDQ series again – hoping that Dungeon World can handle it in a fun and easy way! 🙂
