Riots

Riots

Riots

When a steading breaks out into riots it usually suffers. What happens depends on the difference between the steading’s defense and the steading’s population (consider the population at +1 for a town and +2 for a city). If the defenses are greater than the population, the steading defenders easily quell the riots with no real harm to the people or the steading. If the defenses are equal to or less than the population, chose a number of the following equal to one plus the difference:

-population as people, mostly rioters, are hurt and killed in the violence

-population as inhabitants flee the steading during the riot and in the aftermath

-defenses as guards and soldiers fight hard and lose men in the quelling

-prosperity as the steading’s structures is badly damaged

-prosperity as the steading’s shops and buildings are looted in the chaos

Lawless tag added as the city does not fully recovers from the riotous mentality

Other positive tag lost as the riots destroy infrastructure and drive out inhabitants

Salamander Statuette

Salamander Statuette

Salamander Statuette

0 weight

This fist-sized wooden salamander, roughly carved and bearing the remnants of long faded paint, has an ancient magical glyph for “Water” and “Dirt” carved in its belly. When the statuette is submerged in mud, it shakes off its wooden shell like molted skin and is, for all intents and purposes, a normal living salamander… until it their is no longer any mud on it (the mud dries into dirt, gets washed off, etc.), in which case it returns to its original lifeless wooden form.

Shadow Dagger

Shadow Dagger

Shadow Dagger

Hand, Ignores Armor, Precise, 0 weight

This dagger is made from shadow itself, slightly shifting like a thick black wispy mist. If it is dropped by its owner (or otherwise removed from his grip) it will dissipate in a tangling swirl of shadowy mist that retreats into nearby darkness. But is is not gone. With a thought, it can be summoned into the hand of its owner. Doing so takes a few seconds, as the blade reforms from swirling shadowy mists pulled from the nearby darkness. If the owner is ever slain the dagger will form in his hand (if he is not already holding it), awaiting a new owner to come claim it. And short of other magical intervention, this is the only way the dagger can change owners.

Mage-Blight

Mage-Blight

Mage-Blight

Poison, Dangerous, Touch, 0 weight

Often applied to the blades of those who hunt rogue wizards, this alchemical concoction will significantly complicate the casting of the target’s next spell. Results range from the spell simply fizzling out to the spell going grievously and disastrously wrong. Making this poison is more difficult than making normal poison though, as it requires the base poison to first be created, and then it must be finished by some sort of arcane enchantment. And whoever is making it has yet to be discovered.

Trefang’s Skull

Trefang’s Skull

Trefang’s Skull

Close, Forceful, +2 damage, 1 piercing, 4 weight

Trefang’s Skull is an incredibly heavy one-handed mace that is made entirely of a dark matte metal that is always cold to the touch. The head of the mace is crafted to look like an human skull (to scale) riddled with spikes, and the shaft crafted to look like a metal impaling spike. The weapon appears to be crafted of a single piece of metal. It has no real handle or grip though, so it is often found with some leather hastily wrapped along the base of the impaling spike shaft. When drenched in the blood of enemies, the eyes of the skull begin to glow a deep necrotic red. And while Trefang’s Skull is in this state, primed with dark power, it can be used by the wielder to request a favor of Death. But once that favor is asked, if Death decides to bestow the favor, the wielder is bound by whatever price Death demands.

Spear of the Shadow Hunter

Spear of the Shadow Hunter

Spear of the Shadow Hunter

Reach, thrown, near, 1 piercing, +1 damage, 1 weight

The Spear of the Shadow Hunter is a beautifully crafted, and entirely black, spear. It’s haft is made of some sort of pure black wood, that is both sturdy and light to the touch. Affixed to the end with a wrapping of black metallic wire is an obsidian spearhead that never chips of dulls. At first, the spear seems to be nothing more than an exceptionally crafted weapon. But once the spear draws blood, the spear will be bonded to that quarry until it is killed. When the bearer of the Spear of the Shadow Hunter stalks the quarry alone, he will be able to track the quarry directly to its location. The spear becomes enveloped in tendrils of shadow, obfuscating and hiding the hunter, and guiding him to his prey. But once on the hunt, the hunter cannot relent even for a moment, nor can he call other hunters to his aid, lest the spirits of the great hunters within the spear judge him unworthy.
