48 hours left! This will be a finite print run of 350-400 copies (tbd by final numbers at the close of the campaign), but the adventure will eventually be made available through DriveThruRPG.

Heartfelt thanks to all the members of the Dungeon World community who kicked in and/or spread the word, especially Adam Koebel, Sage LaTorra, David Guyll, and Casey McKenzie. This campaign has been successful enough to encourage me to produce more adventures and rules supplements for DW, a prospect which has me super excited.

So: Grim Portents.

So: Grim Portents.

So: Grim Portents. Can they trigger offscreen, without the PCs knowing they triggered? I’ve always assumed that if they PCs aren’t present to observe a Portent, it can happen without them and they might find evidence of it and/or face the repercussions of it later. Or never find out it happened at all.

This has played out as me making a GM move by ticking a box on a list and not telling the players what just happened, and/or saying something like, “The wheels turn,” to let them know that their slowness or bad luck has allowed something bad to happen, but not telling them what.

Do Grim Portents always need to be on a scale where they are overtly announced, or can they tick off in the background?

Well, I just launched a kickstarter for a Dungeon World adventure.

Close to launching a kickstarter for a DW adventure to be available in print and pdf. Thinking about making the “beta” pdf (complete except for most of the illustrations) available to all backers as soon as the campaign ends, partly in order to garner feedback in order improve the final product.

I’m interested in opinions on the pros and cons of such an approach, and/or any alternative ideas. I’ve already shown it around and playtested it a fair bit, but it could probably still benefit from the wisdom of a crowd.

Thanks!

Has anyone written up a playbook or move primer? Like, a series of questions to ask yourself when creating new moves for a class? I keep falling back on mechanical stuff and feel like a need an external prompt to keep myself nimble and out of that rut. Searches have proven fruitless thus far, any help appreciated!

Looking for a single-session DW adventure in the format of an old-school module? I finally got a chance to test out my DW adaptation of Harley Stroh’s Tower of the Black Pearl with a family of 4 RPG neophytes. It went great and took 3.5 hours, including character creation, so I’ll be running it at cons in the future. You will need the original module for the maps.

A 24-page black and white DW adventure, printed at digest size (5.5″ x 8.5″) with a cardstock cover and 15-20 original illustrations (not by me). How much would you pay for a hard copy? How much for a pdf?

Informal poll: do you use miniatures or other tokens to represent characters in spatial/tactical situations in DW?

Informal poll: do you use miniatures or other tokens to represent characters in spatial/tactical situations in DW? I assume most people don’t, but I’m curious. I’m working on an adventure, and am wondering if there would be any point in including a page of paper figures of creatures that appear in the adventure.

Oh yeah, and these are .docs because I couldn’t figure out how to keep the links live when converting to pdf.
