Hey all

Hey all

Hey all,

I’ve been workshopping a setting almanac for my group based on Jason Lutes’ Perilous Journeys and Jeremy Strandberg’s Follower Rules and would love to hear your thoughts.

Also, if you’d like to roll a Faculty or Student Body member–we can always use a few more to torment the players with–just let me know.

Hi all,

I’ve been working on an almanac of sorts for the Dungeon World game my group is running.  Entries are partly inspired by use of the Perilous Journeys tables (with the occasional mod).  I should have a map up soon (once we’ve refined and polished it a tad more).

Future updates will include monsters and the places they’re encountered (you’ll note a few toward the end as samples).  Feel free to let me know what you think and where you’d like to see additional content.  We’ll be play testing Perilous for a while yet, so I look forward to hearing your thoughts.

NPCs that Follow

I was listening to a Fear the Boot podcast on GMPCs recently, which prompted a visit to Jeremy Strandberg and Jason Lutes ‘ revisions to the hireling rules, as my DW setting is largely based on an Academy and what little of the world remains from Flood and Man’s own folly.

During the first session, my players named two NPCs–one brother, one rival–and told me why they were essential to the PCs’ lives (as well as why they’re attending the Academy).

Given the nature of the world (harsh) and the predilections of their teachers (for science!), I wrote the two NPCs first as full characters and then as Followers only, before settling on a hybrid of sorts with the mods linked below.

So far, my players have enjoyed their streamlined, yet fictionally potent allies (in our last session, a PC worked with his rival to recover an artifact from a sunken tower).

If you have any ideas on how to improve the mods or the base rules, or just want to share your favorite NPC stories, the comments are all yours. 🙂

Hi all,

Great community here. Full of insights and interesting ideas. The Tavern has definitely helped to make Dungeon World a lively and fun game for my group.

The question above was inspired by my conversations with Tim Franzke about Anthony Giovannetti’s DW hacks and how certain moves could be used for Leverage in Parley.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on when and why, as well as your favorite examples from actual play. My hope is to make this thread a resource for GMs and players alike.

And who knows? Maybe we’ll collect the community favorites as a send up for Adam Koebel and Sage LaTorra. 😉
