I have heard that Adam Koebel and Sage LaTorra somehow kept all the text for DW in github and then dynamically generated the book and class sheets from it. Does anybody know how that was done? Am curious.

Saaayyy Whaaaa?
If this is true, im impressed. And curious myself
InDesign. https://github.com/Sagelt/Dungeon-World
Pretty sure it was written in xml so it could easily be versioned and imported into the indesign layout file.
Also makes styling easier. I onow it does for me.
Not sure how the github part worked if someone didnt have indesign. Then theyd just be reading straight XML. Which isn’t bad if you are used to it already.
I didn’t realize you could do that with InDesign. But I suppose that makes sense, if it’s actually meant to do publishing. Cool.
I looked at how they did this a while back. The XML winds up being InDesign specific (mostly) making it harder (but not impossible) to use something like XSLT/Fop to do certain things, but still very useful.
Also, it’s worth mentioning you can do this in reverse: exporting XML from InDesign, though this is no where near as easy as it should be.
Lester Ward Yeah. I fimd that the importing is easier and more useful. Since I can use Notepad++ for the xml and setting up the styles. Definitely is useful when you are 2 different people, one for layout graphics and other for primarily text.
Then it can just update text during editting while still figuring art/graphics.
