Help me think up a good name for this move, I’m drawing a blank!
“When you Defy Danger with reckless courage, instead of rolling 2d6 you roll 1d6+1d8. If the d6 is the higher die of the pair, the GM will also introduce a complication or danger that comes about due to your recklessness.”
Brendan Fraser’s character in the Mummy trilogy was my inspiration.
“This’d Better Work”
“Very Brave or Very Stupid”
“I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead”
“Good News, Bad News”
“The Fall Will Probably Kill You”
Given that it’s based on The Mummy – “I Only Gamble With My Life.”
I really like “I Only Gamble With My Life.” and “Very Brave or Very Stupid.”
Push your luck?
“Damn the Consequences”
“Daredevil”
“Over my dead body”?
I dunno, I think better wording would be: “When you defy danger following an act of reckless courage.”
Defying danger is mostly an act of caution no matter how you stage it.
Believe it’s also on the Barbarian in DW too, you can also just increase complications (good & bad) with 2d6 & rolling either natural matches or just rolling 2 or 12. Think the text on the name would be best when matching the setting so for Dungeon World you can curse some trickster deity or go with something more modern to fit in something present day with some of the suggestions others put in that are more common to hear these days.
Well, I understand the earlier suggestions. The base classes are riddled with pop culture references.
I Got It! I Got It! … I Don’t Got It!
“Where Angels Fear to Tread”
“Heedless”
But I think “I Only Gambe with My Life” is a nice nod.
Another vote for ‘I only gamble with my life’
