What does Dungeon World need?
Lightsabers.
Here is another reskin from Class Warfare but this time with a sci-fi twist.

I would make him D10 damage since he should be best with melee. A Han Solo character would be D8. Although you may argue that the fact the light sabre ignores armour is adequite…
Also it should be defy danger dexterity, not speed.
The problem with Jedi mind trick is that 7-9 is basically a fail if the GM decides that the NPC attacks you. I would rewrite it completely.
When you give an NPC an order and use the Force to reinforce it, roll+WIS.
On 10+ both. On 7-9 the GM chooses just one.
They obey your command or believe what you say and do not attack you.
You take + 1 forward against them.
The damage is based on class warfare rules and is okay like that. A lightsaber is super strong/useful fictionally too.
Also the mind trick move is fine as it is, compare to the paladin I am the law.
These are great suggestions, but I was just doing a reskin off of Class Warfare. I just built the class using the rules provided and reflavored them while trying to change as little as possible.
I’m not sure Agent of Destruction is that useful, since you ignore damage with the lightsaber. I guess it makes it easier for everyone else to deal damage?
Jedi Mind Trick- When you give an NPC an order and use the Force to reinforce it, roll+WIS. On a hit, they choose one:
Attack you.
Back away cautiously, then flee.
Do what you say.
On a 10+, you also take +1 forward against them. On a miss, they do as they please and you take -1 forward against them.
So you roll 7-9 and you get absolutely no advantage but they attack you? Sounds like a solid fail and not a partial success or success with cost to me.
You get to make them do something. That is worth it.
Imagine using this on say a Senator or some other person of political power but not necessarily an ass kicker. That’s when the move really shines. If you pulled this on Boba Fett, he’d probably shake it off and come at you, but maybe you stopped him from assassinating his target. It’s all in how you use it. If someone is coming at you with all intent to hurt you, this isn’t going to do much for you, other than you have made sure it is coming for you and not someone else.
NPCs should always do something anyway.☺ That is why the GM gets to make moves.
Lets take a politician. You make a face and he runs away. No move needed for that.
Now take Bobba Fett. He wants to assasinate his target but you want him to attack you. There is a basic move for that. But say you want to use this move. So you say “Hey Bobba, those are not the droids you’re looking for.” You roll 7-9 and the GM says “OK, he stops, flees from you and attacks the droids.”
Anyway, I’ve bought Class Warfare but haven’t read it yet. Maybe that will clear my confusion.
If you’ve read the Paladin from the core rule book you’ve already seen this move. It’s the exact same of “I Am The Law!”
Wynand Louw If your GM thinks it’s cool to interpret “Backs away cautiously, then flees” as “Stays and attacks someone else in the same scene,” you need to have a serious talk with your GM.
James Etheridge yea.
But as written he could definitely attack someone else.
Delos Adamski you’re right. I always thought that move was broken. Nobody plays the paladin in our group anymore.
Kasper Brohus Allerslev used that move to great effect before.
Story Time Tim Franzke ?
I am driving for the next few hours.
He says while he texts 😛
I am just waiting for my coffee to be done and then I am off.
Ah, drive safe and please tell us the story when you get a chance.
