We’re in our third campaign of “Advanced FotF” and we decided to set it in the same world as the first. Some of you may remember posted updates about our (real) year-long slog against “The Cultists of the Blight Dragon”. Here’s the developing map for “Against the Corruptor”, which has involved much less overland travel but no less fun or adventure! The players this round are playtesting books for The Druid, The Ranger, The Paladin, and a “1E” Mage.

Did you advance the timeline from the first adventure at all?
Where did your “corner of the map” start – what was the beginning community?
Nice map! What are you using to draw it?
Chris Shorb The City of Hind used to be in the corner. It grew as random directions were added. EVERYTHING in the game– every place, plot, story, creature, item, detail… is randomly generated, or selected randomly from a list of player-suggested ideas.
Martin Larsson I draw it by hand in Illustrator.
Very cool. Looking forward to more updates. Pretty map as well. A lot of time goes into illustrator maps.
Maezar hey Mate! Any chance we could play test the new classes too? I’ve been mixing and matching moves from FBotF and DW any ways, but I’m sure you have a few tricks up your sleeve😉
Also, I’ve adopted your 2d12 paradigm to the group and we love it! Strangely, I’ve been using the One Ring d12s, which are marked 1-10 with a Sauron symbol and a Gandalf tune for the 11 and 12. My brain keeps wanting to make those symbols MEAN something! We’ve suggested that if you roll a Gandalf rune it’s an auto split, no matter the total (with modifiers) and the eye of Sauron is a tick on any applicable thread…
There is more possibilities in there I’m sure!
Maezar I’d love a chance to play test those classes as well!
Nathan Roberts how have you found the experience of adding in elements from DW?
I am reluctant to share these classes because they will break your games. They’re part of a whole system of “Advanced Freebooters” slash “D12 Delves”
Maezar Could they be useful for inspiration for our own additional classes? I’m also pretty intrigued by your 2d12 mechanic and kinda want to try it out in play. Whatever the case I understand your reluctance. If you do choose to share them that’d be fantastic and I’d love to see them, but if you prefer not to I understand!
Jeb E Its funny, we went from DW to World of Dungeons to FBotF. Despite sharing the same heritage, they have slightly different principles – so this effects how the game gets parsed.
After raving about the extra granularity of Maezar 2d12 mechanic and GM-full game structure, folks want a little more move choice in both our characters and the world building moves.
Its been fun! I’ve even played a fair bit solo bewteen our sessions (since we tend to play bi-monthly).
I just posted an offer to try d12 Advanced Freebooters in some kind of online game. Look for it here!
Maezar I’m down! GM-Full? Please?
Nathan Roberts GM-full? As in Fully GM’d? How about a blended game instead of GM-less?
Maezar Well that works too. I meant by GM-Ful that we are all player GMs, in the way you described your long running GMless game 🙂
Hahaha! I forgot that term. GM-full is DEFINITELY how we will play!
