I have an idea for a campaign, but I am a new DM and I wanted some thoughts form others. The idea is that a world has been mostly taken over by creatures/monsters, and has reached out to other worlds for help. The only remaining kingdom has offered payment to adventurers to go into the infested area and look for anything of value (magic items, gems, ores, information on enemies, etc.) I have ideas for jobs for the PCs to do, along with a possible reason to why the area is infested, but I would like to know what others think of the idea.

That sounds like a good start place to me. But more importantly than what we think, what do your players think of that idea?
currently, it is just me and a good friend of mine, and he likes the idea. I guess I was partly asking if anyone had any tips for a game like this.
In The Last Days of Anglekite one of the factions is travelling from dying world to dying world to plunder what they can.
This remember me Symbaroum RpG setting.

Maybe the creatures from the other worlds are bleeding into the PCs world giving them reason to investigate the other world or try and keep them out.
Jay Frein I like this very much. I think it would give real stakes to the characters as they move back and forth from their world to that one and see the consequences of each mission’s success or failure and how it affects their world in particular.
I don’t mind the classic, “get paid to do a job” hook, but there are other ways to motivate players to make the world feel different.
