Here’s a Curse of Strahd starter I threw together on my lunch break. I did it from memory and was rushed, so it’s not perfect! I’ll work on it some more when I get the chance.

Looks like it’s implied that you and the players already know the setting. I like it but it should be less name binded
Not necessarily Federico Totti. You picked “The Dark Powers at the at the Amber Temple”, tell me about the Dark Powers and the Amber Temple. What is the Tome of Strahd and why it will be useful or valuable to you? Tell me about the Abbey of Saint Markovia and why it’s not what it appears to be. You may end up with a campaign that’s nothing like Curse of Strahd, especially if the everyone at the table doesn’t know the setting, and that’s totally fine because it’s just a way to do some quick, collaborative world-building. I especially enjoy seeing something from popular media going in completely different directions (see my Session Zero zine: http://www.drivethrurpg.com/browse/pub/11364/Brian-Holland)
You could change it to say “The forces in the ancient temple” (and you’re free to do that) but IMO “Dark Powers at the Amber Temple” does more to spark my imagination, as does “The Druids of Yester Hill” instead of “some evil druids”. These are, of course, just my thoughts. Feel free to re-skin this in a more generic way!

I get it, I kinda thought about it but having played CoS ALOT maybe I fear I could be too binded to the things I already know. Your point totally makes sense tho.
I’m finishing up a CoS campaign very soon, so I totally have Strahd on the brain… I would be completely bound to the source material right now! I would really like to see a GM and players with NO familiarity with the source material use this and see what their world would look like.
I have only bare background knowledge from the old Ravenloft novels and campaign setting but never had the module. This Could be quite fun to just fill in the gaps with whatever we come up with. Thanks
Casey McKenzie, if you use it I’d love to know how it goes for you. Also, here’s a move I used to explore Castle Ravenloft:

I’d love to actually run a crawl through Castle Ravenloft at some point, but my time has become super limited so I used Jason Cordova’s Labyrinth move to abstract it way down.
