So, I made a set of old school cut and paste cards with Eric Nieudan’s procedural world building deck and hope to combine them with my previous aids for running one shots in the vein of John Aegard.
I want to combine them with World Architect cards and +John Lewis’s starter ad Libs.
Make a map with Perilous Wilds start-up and Voila! Instant adventure with hooks aplenty and a map to boot. I’m testing on Sunday! So I’ll keep you posted.
I think you’re the first person to use these besides me =)
Definitely interested in your notes about the process you’re using!
Those look great! Would you share so we can make our own?

Sounds and looks awesome! I still search for some good sandbox building tools.
My cards are in the folder called Map-a-Plot in here: drive.google.com – Procedural Worldbuilding (shared) – Google Drive
I’m getting an In A Wicked Age impression from the cards. How do you come up with the text on them?
Beautiful!
Eric Nieudan propers are in order, Eric!
EDIT: and Nathan Roberts, duh.
As always I’ll plug GM’s Appreciate and Backstory Cards here. (neither is my project)
Tim Jensen Are you asking about my cards, or Nathan’s oracle strips?
Eric Nieudan The oracle strips.
Although I’d like to learn about your card creation process as well.
Hey Tim Jensen, the oracular strips are from John Lewis, but I’ve expanded and as you surmise, pilfered at lot from the IaWA lists 🙂
Just classic heroic fantasy, though you could temper the choices to make the game gritty or Sword and Sorcery etc.
As far as I can remember, my creation process was simple: I created a large spreadsheet and filled it over the course of a few weeks.
So I’ve been working on a “card draw” method for world building to go along with my one-roll generators, but this is MUCH better than what I’d come up with. I’m going to print out the cards and give it a try. Well done Eric Nieudan!
Thanks Brian Holland, glad you like it! Do let me know how it goes if you get to use the cards.
