So has anyone found any problems with the power of MU spells not growing much with level?
One of my players has an int 18 MU so he has +3 for casting and a huge number of power points. Other than getting new spells I am not sure how much he is going to improve as he levels – what have I missed? (My comments are theoretical since we only rolled up characters, actual play starts next week – interested what people have seen in practice)
The power points are quite a boon, they can let you cast permanent large scale spells.

Since the “power” of the MU is in how a particular spell’s name is interpreted to impact the fiction; my expectation is if the MU is creative, they can be pretty powerful.

Chris Shorb I agree that creative impact on the fiction is a great reason to play a MU but being able to do high damage (4d6?) at range is typically only the remit of mid-high level rather than 1st level MUs in D&D (and DW!) and if the intent is to model that power progression then maybe level should have a greater impact than at present (+it is totally OK if a different progression is desired, eg DCC may be closer to Freebooters in theory but in practice it requires high spellburn ie resource expenditure and my understanding is that Power is just a limit per use rather than over time.

Rob Brennan I honestly haven’t played FotF yet beyond making characters with my sons. So I can’t address your concerns directly from experience. Maybe just try it and see how it goes? Then tweak as necessary?

OK now checking the rules again I see that we were playing it wrong as my MU was using + intelligence rather than + INT for his power! Disregard this issue!
