As 90% new (I’ve GM’d one session using the starting materials) to Dungeon World, I’ve got some questions for anyone more experience.

1. How new is the Immolator class? Since I only have 3 players, and I wanted to anyway, I played a character also. I really like Immolator, but I can’t find any material besides the starter on the Dungeon World website.

2. What are compendium classes and where are the best places to find then? I’ve read about them and seen a few, but I’m still kinda confused.

3. How are you guys interpreting the Multiclass Dabbler/Master/etc moves on some of the classes? Why do they all have the same text?

4. Does anyone have any recommendations for the best general resources for Dungeon World, third party or otherwise?

  1. 1. Newer than the rule book, but it was an official stretch goal on Kickstarter. Use it freely.

    2. They add a group of related moves that the character can choose from when they take an advance instead of the class moves. Whenever you meet the trigger condition on the base love for the CC you can take it whenever you’d choose a move.

    3. Because they’re all the same mechanic.

    4. This group is pretty darned solid. DTRPG.com has a lot of material for sale; classes, splat books, and adventures.

  2. 2- Michael Llaneza is correct. Basically they are like “Prestige Classes” if you are familiar with those from Pathfinder. Here are a bunch you can use for free if seeign some helps explain them:

    http://docslide.us/documents/dungeon-world-backer-classes-cc-1up.html

3 – They don’t all have the same text. Some let you only choose a starting move from another class (multi-class initiate, if I recall correctly). Some let you choose a 2-10 move.

4 – Get a firm grasp on the main game before you get into supplements. I’ve got a ton of them and the moves on the basic moves sheet are still the back bone of most games I’ve played/run.

  3. Eric Lochstampfor They do all have the same text. “Gain a move from another class. Treat your level as one lower when choosing that move.” The thing about Dabbler is that it’s usually a 2-5 move, and many people choose to take it at level 2, which only allows them a starting move

  4. Good suggestions. I don’t think it’s necessary to have a 4th PC if you only have 3 people, though. I actually run most of my games with only 3 PCs. The game is so scalable that it won’t make it too difficult and gives everyone more face time.

  5. Yep, there is a bundle of ’em in that folder. They’re a bit old now, few things I’m sure I’d change, but they’re a fine start!

I personally consider The Immoveable Rock, The Master Duelist and The Goblin King to be the most useable.
