Crypt Wight (Group, Devious, Intelligent, Cautious, Hoarder, Terrifying)
Ghost Blade (d6 damage) 10 HP (4 armor)
(Close, Near)
Special Qualities: Undead
A crypt wight is a corpse given a semblance of life through a fallen spirit’s love of violence and hatred. A crypt wight can drain the life energy out of victims by touch or blade, turning them into new wights upon death. Crypt wights may not leave their tombs and sunlight is fatal to them. They may not cross running water or salt. Silver weapons do double damage. A crypt wight appears as a weird and twisted reflection of the form it had in life. Wights are always evil.
Custom Move: When a crypt wight first drains you with its ghost blade or touch, ROLL+CON;
On a 10+, it fails and you take no damage
On a 7-9, choose 1; On a 6 or less fail take all three.
@Take d6 of damage damage.
@Take-1 ongoing until you make camp.
@Lose 1 point of Strength until you make camp.
On a 6, all three take effect.
Instinct : Steal the strength of the living.
Extinguish all light
Ambush from corpse or walls.
Show them the horrors of undeath
Decent monster, I’d do the custom move differently though, that’s just me. The move only happens when you roll under 9 on a hack and slash, or as a hard move, so I’d word it like this:
When you take harm from a crypt wight, ROLL+CON.
On a 10+, it deals its harm, but leaves itself open to attack. Take +1 forward.
On a 7-9, take 1d6 damage and choose 2.
– Take a physical debility until you make camp.
– You cannot be healed until the wight is slain.
– You deal -1 damage until you make camp.
– Take a lasting scar, tainted with unlife.
On a 6, take 1d6 damage, then the MC chooses 3 for you.
Plus I’d give it these moves, again, your version is fine:
– Imitate corpse and hide in darkness
– Extinguish light
– Drain them of vitality
– Show them the horrors of undeath
One more thing…
When the crypt wight drains all life from a creature it gains the following qualities until it takes harm:
– Quickened (when speed is contested, the Wight is fastest)
– +2 HP (maximum 10 HP)
