Here is one of my lunch time doodles… that somehow evokes a good egyptian sword and sandal dungeon crawl.
Okay, this one was yesterday’s lunch, plus I had some time to kill before going to the Lansing Middle School auditorium after work. So I completed the pencil sketch at Myers Point on Cayuga Lake, working at a table some 20 feet from the water. It was so beautiful yesterday.
This is a slightly different private commission. The Liberty Hall Writers do short stories and have an occasional contest. The winner’s story is presented to me and I draw something from the story. This time, it is called “Healing the Beast”.
This pic is going to color and I will make it grayscale before working on the colors digitally, so the red pencil is not an issue. I like using red pencil on the tone paper because it great for preliminary lines and it is nice for a different value range than the HB and 2Bs I use for the darks.
Very nice, sword & sandals doesn’t get enough love.
I agree!
Ditto!
Thanks Storn, interesting peek into your process. Also: it looks great!
Thanks John!
