As a quick followup to my post of a few days ago: the DW session went quite well! No major problems identifying magical items arose. 🙂 Thanks again for all your help and suggestions.
One small question came up during game play:
How do you deal with a Volley using a single ranged weapon? One of my players has a spear she likes to throw at enemies. But how do we then deal with the “You have to take several shots, reducing your ammo by one.” failure option? Do we just rule it not applicable, or is there some interpretation that would work?
That’s just not a choice he can pick.
For starters. I assume it’s always a one-use weapon (if thrown) and he picks it up after the battle. I would say a spear has Ammo 1, in a sense. I would let him choose this option you mentioned, but it means the spear is broken or goes over a cliff or something, and he can’t recover anything useful after the battle. Just a thought. Otherwise I’d go with what Aaron Griffin said.
It’s in the description of the thrown tag, I think. You can’t choose the “expend ammo” option.
Jeremy Strandberg Exactly. It’s in the DW book.
Scott Selvidge Yikes, it is indeed in the book — should’ve RTFM’ed. Thanks!
Hey, sometimes asking is easier if you aren’t sure where to look!
