So I’ve heard it said quite a lot that Fronts can be used in other systems as a campaign framework. Has anyone here actually tried that, and if so, how did it go?

At this point I basically can’t not do it.
Fronts are just what you were going to do anyway, go nuts.
Fronts are interesting in other systems as you don’t have the make a move when a player fails in other systems. So essentially your also taking that as well as fronts.
Honestly, the base concept takes very little hacking. But, if you’re looking for inspiration, Apocalypse World and many hacks of it use fronts, so they might provide some useful ideas to plunder.
The new (5E) D&D DMG has a serial numbers filed off Fronts generator, more or less. Roll for a Big Opponent, write those down as as the first item on Cast and Name the Front. Find out their goal, Impending Doom, and modus operandi, fill out Portents.
I think most people think of Fronts too much as an actual “thing” rather than a “a quantifying description of what a good DM does anyways”
